LOCKEDUP BIENNALEVR

A non-linear, room-scale, 20-25 minutes long VR experience completely built with CGI.

The user will play as Robin, a teenager who suffer from the amount of pressure regarding success in life, who are afraid of the judgment from people and the society, and for those reasons are led to lock themselves up in their bedroom, in which they create their perfect but unreal world.

Thanks to the virtual reality, the user will experience this lifestyle with the scope of transmitting the social anxiety and the addiction to their own comfort zone. It will be possible to experience the feeling of failure, social pressure, shame entering a classroom full of people in which there is no shelter.

The user will play between three storylines and environments related to the character’s life. Every event is triggered by a specific object with which the user will have to interact with.

The different storylines of the experience mirror the relations Robin still have in the world outside: memories, friendship and love.

The project was developed during the sixth edition of the Biennale College Cinema VR workshop, as one of the 11 projects selected.
